French-born San Francisco restaurateur Claude Rouas set out to create a Provence-like destination restaurant in Northern California with his 1981 fine dining room, Auberge du Soleil. Diners liked it so much they demanded overnight accommodations — and received them four years later.

The seasonal French-California menu features artisanal ingredients and products from local farms, spotlighted in dishes such as tomato risotto with wild shrimp, white corn soup with Maine crab and roasted lamb with potato gnocchi.

Accompanied by the Auberge du Soleil hotel, the restaurant of the same name offers a retreat from the busy city life, even if it’s just for dinner. Located at 180 Rutherford Hill Road, the Four-Star restaurant was created out of a twinkle in the eye of French-born restaurateur, Claude Rouas.
For more than 30 years, this culinary masterpiece has been drawing foodies from all over to sample chef Robert Curry’s fabulous food. You can expect to find a menu chock full of local ingredients, making the most of the restaurant's ideal location.
