The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection

A rustic escape in the American West
VERIFIED LUXURY

Just outside Park City, Utah, The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection blends modern luxury and rustic aesthetics for an exceptional Western escape.

This sprawling 3,500-acre ranch offers three distinct accommodation types: suites with dramatic views of the Wasatch Mountains, rooms built into a lush hillside and free-standing cabins next to a rushing creek. Each is designed with inviting earth-toned décor inspired by, and sometimes sourced from, the surrounding natural environment.

If you can tear yourself away from those vistas, you can partake in year-round, expertly guided adventures, including horseback riding, outdoor yoga, heliskiing, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, clay target shooting and alfresco art classes.

At the end of the day, wind down with a restorative treatment in the 7,400-square-foot Edge Spa or take a relaxing dip in the infinity pool overlooking the mountains.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • When you arrive to the stunning Sky Lodge, you’ll be greeted with floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramas of the surrounding valley, Wasatch Mountains and of course, blue skies. Registration is seamless, with iPads prompting you to check in to eliminate wait time.
  • At Yuta restaurant, executive chef Galen Zamarra (previously of New York City’s Mas Farmhouse and The Lambs Club) prepares many of his dishes on a wood-burning grill, lending a distinctive Western touch to the cuisine.
  • Blue Sky Ranch includes a 1.5-acre organic farm, run by local gardener and farmer Lynsey Gammon. Herbs, vegetables and flowers grown on Gracie’s Farm are often integrated into the menu at Yuta, and farm tours are available.
  • The renowned High West Distillery and Refectory restaurant neighbors The Lodge at Blue Sky. Take a tour to learn more about the history of whiskey and the distilling process, followed by a delicious dinner or Sunday brunch.
  • A few minutes away from the Sky Lodge by foot, the Creek Houses are adults-only accommodations, providing a peaceful escape for couples who want to get away from it all. These five freestanding cabins boast indoor fireplaces, 14-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that flood the spaces with natural light.

Things to Know

  • We highly recommend finding the picturesque hidden gems nestled among the ranch’s 3,500 acres, including a mountaintop yurt and the Tavern, a former 19th-century schoolhouse-turned-saloon. Reachable by foot, mountain bike or horseback, they are in charming alpine clearings.
  • In the winter, hit the slopes of Park City Mountain Resort and take advantage of Blue Sky’s private ski lounge at the base. Accessible via free shuttle, the lounge provides a convenient place to store ski gear and warm up with hot drinks and snacks.
  • More adventurous skiers can hop on a helicopter to experience the 200,000-plus acres of untouched backcountry terrain in the surrounding mountain ranges.
  • The unique cocktails at Yuta’s bar all have equestrian-inspired names. When you order the Horse Thief — made with tequila, High West Campfire Whiskey, green chartreuse, ginger syrup and fresh blackberries — a dollar from every sale will benefit horse rescue organization Saving Gracie Equine Healing Foundation.
  • Families will appreciate the kid-friendly Little Vaquero’s Club programs, from riding lessons to fishing.

The Rooms

  • While there are three distinct accommodation types, each of the 46 rooms’ interiors feature natural color palettes and sleek lines that allow the bucolic scenery to take center stage. Many of the materials are sourced locally, including wood, stone and marble.
  • The layout may seem unconventional, with the bed in the middle of the room rather than affixed to a wall, but it lends a spacious feel to all accommodations, especially the smaller suites.
  • Each Park City hotel room is equipped with books about the surrounding environs and binoculars for bird-watching.
  • The large bathrooms are modern and inviting, with bath products made with locally sourced ingredients and soaking tubs. Some have private outdoor showers.

Nearby Attractions

  • The Lodge is bordered by two glorious mountain ranges, the Uintas and the Wasatch, offering nearly endless opportunities for recreating in any season, from fly fishing in summer to backcountry skiing in winter.
  • Two renowned ski areas, Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort, are within 30 minutes of the lodge.
  • Park City is a thriving mountain town with a rapidly growing arts and culture scene, which includes the annual Sundance Film Festival. Screenings of independent flicks are also available year-round through the Park City Film Series.
