Cheval Blanc Paris

French sophistication along the Seine
A DISTINCTIVE HOTEL IN ITS DESTINATION

When Cheval Blanc Paris debuted in the landmark art deco building overlooking the Seine, it was the finishing touch in the five-year renovation of one of the fashion capital’s grande dame department stores: La Samaritaine. Joining LVMH’s handful of ultra-luxurious hotels in locales from St. Tropez to St. Barts, Paris marks the brand’s first urban maison. Intended to feel like a home (one with butler service and four acclaimed restaurants — including an outpost of well-known Milan seafood restaurant Langosteria), every element of the historical landmark building — which dates back a century — and its 72 rooms was handpicked to give the space a soul of its own.

Curated materials range from 20 different marbles to a selection of leathers, parchments and hand-painted patinas — plus collector-worthy paintings by abstract French artists and a series of lithographs by Sonia Delaunay. Taking advantage of its lively location on the Seine near Pont-Neuf, all of the rooms show off landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame from the winter garden bay windows, while the suspended garden on the seventh floor features 360-degree vistas of the City of Light.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Chef Arnaud Donckele helms one of the hottest tables in town, Plénitude, which revolves around market-fresh ingredients and the culinary culture of the countryside (sabayons, consommés), which he’s modernized with creatively composed “non-recipes” and sauces crafted with up to a dozen ingredients.
  • From the seventh-floor Le Tout-Paris, the terrace shows off one of the best panoramas of Paris’ skyline over the Seine.
  • While parents explore the city, children up to 12 can have their own adventure by going on treasure hunts or playing beneath the weather-themed interactive ceiling at the kids’ club, Le Carrousel.
  • The Dior Spa Cheval Blanc Paris is an urban escape in the center of the city and offers exclusive treatments and technology, like sapphire crystal micro-abrasion.
  • Make time to take a dip in the 100-foot infinity pool lined with handcrafted mosaics — it’s one of France’s longest hotel pools.

The Rooms

  • French haircare expert Leonor Greyl designed two shampoos and a hair mask exclusively for Cheval Blanc Paris, while the rest of the bath amenities — all in bottles shaped after the hotel’s art deco façade — feature signature scents designed by Maison Dior’s former perfumer François Demachy.
  • All of the marble-clad bathrooms are outfitted with large soaking tubs and walk-in showers that can be converted to steam rooms.
  • Every room category includes 24-hour majordome (butler) service, seamlessly handling everything from shoe shining (with Berluti products) to drawing candlelit baths.
