The Beverly Hilton

Beverly Hills’ midcentury icon

Located in the upscale Golden Triangle shopping district of Beverly Hills, Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star The Beverly Hilton has been a celebrity hot spot since it opened in 1955. When Conrad Hilton debuted the flagship property, women greeted guests from the top of pink elephants and Esther Williams was the first person to plunge into the pool.

The luxury hotel still retains the air of Hollywood glamour. Since 1961, its famed ballroom has hosted the Golden Globes, along with a slew of other red-carpet events. Public spaces are adorned with vintage photographs of legendary stars like Audrey Hepburn and Frank Sinatra. And the pool made headlines once again when Angelina Jolie jumped into it in her sequined Randolph Duke gown after snagging a Golden Globe for Gia in 1999.

The midcentury-modern building also maintains a sense of nostalgia. The rooms feel retro-chic with midcentury furnishings alongside bright white and pale cyan décor.

But the amenities are new and fresh, including Upgrade Labs — a high-tech gym offering on the latest in health innovations — and an Italian culinary focus for the property’s signature restaurant CIRCA 55.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Beverly Hilton’s central Beverly Hills location is extremely convenient whether you’re in L.A. on business or for a star-sighting vacation. It’s roughly a 15-minute walk to Rodeo Drive.
  • The country’s only hotel Upgrade Labs — Bulletproof Coffee founder Dave Asprey’s futuristic gym and longevity facility — offers high-tech treatments like cryotherapy, EEG Brain Training, IV nutrient infusions, state-of-the-art workout equipment and more.
  • Aqua Star Pool is gorgeous and sprawling; in fact, it’s the largest in Beverly Hills. The swimming hole also has its own claim to fame: Angelina Jolie jumped in for a celebratory swim — gown and all — after winning a Golden Globe.
  • The outdoor Wilshire Garden is ideal for weddings or large events. Adjacent to the main event area is the Secret Garden, featuring a charming waterfall and intimate nooks.
  • The property’s collection of Hollywood memorabilia cements its status as a historic hotel. Throughout the property you’ll see black-and-white vintage photos of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland.

Things to Know
  • For the best views of the Hollywood Hills, request a studio suite facing Wilshire Boulevard.
  • The Beverly Hilton is adjacent to Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. Since both properties are owned by Hilton Hotels & Resorts, you receive the family discount at the Waldorf's La Prairie spa and Jean-Georges Beverly Hills restaurant.

  • If you’re taking a taxi or rideshare to the Beverly Hills hotel, make sure to get dropped off at the right location — many drivers confuse the sister properties. There’s a small side street behind the building that will take you to the drop-off entrance of The Beverly Hilton (Waldorf’s entry is off Wilshire Boulevard).

  • The luxury hotel offers the largest event space (60,000 square feet spread across 24 meeting and banquet rooms) in Los Angeles all on one floor, meaning that the property is a hub of activity year-round with conferences and red-carpet events.

The Rooms

  • The recently renovated rooms provide a stylish touch of nostalgia with champagne- and white-striped wallpaper, pale blue accents, oversized headboards and mid-century-modern-inspired décor.
  • The five Signature Suites are popular for groups or families. A living room, dining room and kitchenette are homey comforts and the option to connect your suite to a Premier Double Room ensures everyone has enough space.
  • Many suites have expansive, wrap-around balconies affording beautiful cityscape views from higher floors. In fact, The Beverly Hilton has the largest hotel balconies in Beverly Hills.
  • Amenity highlights include fragrant L'Occitane bath products, Bose Wave sound systems, Sealy Plush Pillow Top custom mattresses and floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • Rooms are equipped with an iPad virtual concierge service that allows you to connect your smart phone and order room service, make Upgrade Labs reservations and submit amenity requests from the palm of your hand.

The Restaurants

  • Enjoy modern Italian cuisine at CIRCA 55 under the helm of executive chef Giovanni Spataro. Staples like grilled octopus, eggplant parmigiana and short rib pappardelle pair well with the dining room’s convivial ambiance.
  • Home to one of Beverly Hills’ most opulent weekend spreads, CIRCA 55 hosts Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas. Among the breakfast favorites, you might find a fresh Tuscan kale and quinoa salad, chicken and waffles, and a sumptuous seafood display.
  • The Lobby Lounge & Barista Bar is a popular meeting spot to either start the day with Starbucks coffee or kick off your evening with appetizers and cocktails.
