Shore Lodge

A picture-perfect Idaho getaway
VERIFIED LUXURY
Nestled alongside Payette Lake, Shore Lodge is tucked nearly a mile high in the Northern Rockies, offering elegant meals and accommodations, astounding views and easy access to a plethora of year-round mountain sports. It truly is, as the property’s tagline says, “An authentic Idaho mountain retreat.”

It’s the attention to detail that really makes Shore Lodge shine. From the moment you are greeted by a friendly valet, everything is taken care of properly. Whether you want an active day on the water, the slopes, or the trails, or you want to relax at the spa and a sumptuous meal, Shore Lodge makes it happen.

Every detail from lush robes and breakfast served in bed, to warm cookies placed bedside as part of the nightly turndown service, is done right. Shore Lodge offers 77 rooms with garden or lake views; they’re rustic, yet contemporary and spacious — like the lodge itself.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The McCall lodge is the only hotel on the banks of Payette Lake and includes The Cove spa and The Narrows, a fine-dining restaurant in the small mountain town’s most romantic setting.
  • As a year-round mountain and lakeside resort with a world-class spa, there’s always something wonderful to do, whether it’s playing on the snow-covered slopes during the winter, splashing along the beach in the summer or just enjoying some romantic time in between.
  • Shore Lodge has a classic mountain look with lots of exposed wooden beams and a moose bust mounted above a stone fireplace in the lobby.
  • The property is accurately described as a mountain town’s boutique hotel on a lake. As lead concierge Katie Morrell describes the McCall hotel, “We’re authentic. We’re not overdone. We’re not underdone. You feel like you’re a family member and you want to come back.”
Things to Know
  • Shore Lodge is located along the southern banks of Payette Lake in the mountain resort community of McCall, Idaho. The area is a year-round playground for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • “Ski Town U.S.A.,” as McCall is nicknamed, is home to five different cross-country ski resorts, more than 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and alpine skiing at the beloved Brundage Mountain, located a few short miles from the lodge and accessible by complimentary shuttle service.
  • Shore Lodge has its own marina and rents out a massive variety of watercraft in the summer, everything from stand-up paddleboards to 24-foot long pontoon boats.
  • McCall’s most popular (and famous) event is the annual McCall Winter Carnival each January. The 10-day celebration includes numerous parades, winter sports races and legendary snow and ice sculpture displays.
The Rooms
  • Shore Lodge offers 77 guest rooms and suites in eight styles, all of which have been recently remodeled.
  • The rooms present either lake views, which provide memorable peeks of the alpine splendors of Payette Lake and the surrounding mountains, or garden views, overlooking the lodge’s impressive grounds. Fireplace suites and a 5,000-square-foot beachfront house are also available.
  • Dark and rustic but filled with modern spoils, the rooms at Shore Lodge are stylish but still offer that classic mountain comfort feel, matching their mantra of “An Authentic Idaho Mountain Retreat.”
  • The hotel does a great job taking care of the finer details — the rooms offer terry-cloth bathrobes, Italian bed linens, Starbucks coffee and fresh cookies as part of the nightly turndown service.
  • A stay at the McCall hotel includes access to all kinds of amenities such as the year-round, outdoor heated pool and hot tub, a 43-seat movie theatre and s’mores over the fire pit at the beach every night.
The Restaurants
  • Shore Lodge offers three main restaurants. The Narrows is one of McCall’s best fine-dining restaurant and is open from 5 to 10 p.m. nightly.
  • It is located in the lobby of the lodge and offers stunning looks onto Payette Lake, a great wine list and an impressive menu featuring Pacific Northwest and Idaho grown fare such as Snake River Farms Kobe beef rib eye. Reservations are recommended.
  • The adjoining Narrows Grill offers a more casual setting for lunch or dinner, with the same great vistas and food. Its lounge is spacious and simple with lots of woodwork and a well-rounded liquor selection.
  • The Lake Grill opens daily at 7 a.m. and is renowned for its breakfasts — which can be also served in-room. The grill’s patio is the best place in McCall for lunch in the warm weather months.
  • There’s also a coffee shop inside The Mercantile gift shop in the lobby that sells fresh pastries, other light fare and even bottles of Veuve Clicquot for that special occasion.
