Jia

A flavorful tour of Pacific Rim cuisine
VERIFIED LUXURY
Jia is the pan-Asian fine-dining eatery at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, a top casino resort on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. You enter by passing a waterfall, which sets the Asian-inspired natural and elemental feel, augmented by an abundance of exposed teak and light fixtures designed as flames meant to resemble smoldering candles.

The restaurant’s menu is not fusion, but rather it spans the cuisine of several Pacific Rim cultures, most extensively Chinese and Japanese but with delicious takes on Singaporean, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai fare as well. There’s also a large sushi and sashimi menu at the establishment. The choices skew towards classics and Americanized Asian fare, such as Peking duck and sesame beef, rather than many cutting-edge or contemporary takes on the genre.

The menu at Jia is very large and designed so you can mix and match from among the many styles represented, from dim sum starters and rice sides to full entrees and sushi. Jia has a lengthy, award-winning wine list as well as a popular specialty cocktail list paired to the cuisine.

Things to Know
  • Jia is actually several restaurants in one, with guests of all dress levels clustering around the live cooking tableside at the teppanyaki tables in back, sitting at the counter of the sushi bar in front, eating in the small lounge area where the noodle menu is served, or conversing in the main dining room which has the most formal feel of all of the areas.
  • The main dining room is a fairly quiet, contemporary and Asian-influenced space. With glass “flames,” light fixtures resembling smoldering candles, a waterfall entrance and a healthy amount of exposed teak, it all has a pronounced natural feel.
  • Noodles at Jia is a noodle bar that’s more casual and lively. In fact, the seats at Noodles’ teppanyaki grill are great places to be to see a chef cook in front of you, often with purposeful flare-ups of flame, in a spirited, almost performance art kind of manner.
  • Jia is an upscale restaurant that requests patrons wear smart-casual attire. But in reality, both the Gulf Coast region and casinos in general are more laid-back than many comparable hotels and destinations around the country. The fact that some guests eat at the noodle bar in shorts or a new suit in the dining room certainly illustrates as much.
