Encore Boston Harbor

A dose of Vegas glitz in Boston
VERIFIED LUXURY

Encore Boston Harbor is the city’s answer to the luxurious and indulgent casino resorts of Las Vegas, with all the glamour and spectacle you could wish for. The hotel bears a striking resemblance to sister property Wynn Las Vegas with its signature curved bronze building, world-class art collection and more flowers than you could imagine.

Many of the hotel’s 15 dining and lounge venues have a local connection, including Fratelli, a joint enterprise from Boston restaurateurs Frank DePasquale and Nick Varano, and The Oyster Bar, run by beloved area chef John Ross, who serves up the freshest seafood.

For many, the main attraction is the casino, and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s teeming with slots and table games. You’ll find all the whirs and dings of Vegas on the East Coast here.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Encore Boston Harbor’s wow factor strikes you upon walking into the soaring main lobby. Take in the dazzling Preston Bailey floral carousel, which features 10 mythical animals, 83,000 flowers and 11,000 jewels, set amid four 20-foot ficus trees and 4,000 flower pots.
  • There are plenty of options for those who love games of chance at the 210,000-square- foot casino, including more than 3,100 slot machines and 231 table games, private gaming rooms for high rollers and an 88-table Poker Room.
  • The luxuriously appointed 26,000-square-foot Spa at Encore Boston Harbor sports 16 individual treatment rooms, a couple’s suite and an array of exclusive treatments. Kick off your stay with a Good Luck Ritual — it may not help you win at the tables, but the invigorating peppermint foot treatment will put a spring in your step.
  • A stellar art collection spans the property, but the big crowd-pleaser and Instagram favorite is Jeff Koons’ six-foot, five-inch, mirror-polished stainless-steel installation of iconic cartoon character Popeye.
  • In case you forgot anything, fall in love with the Wynn products in your room or won big and want to splurge on a Swiss watch or other luxe items, The Shops at Encore Boston Harbor offers plenty of retail therapy.

Things to Know

  • Custom luxury yachts ferry guests from the Boston waterfront to the ultra-luxe casino hotel. Another way to get to Encore is via free shuttles, which leave from a number of spots, including the Wellington and Malden Center MBTA stations.
  • The dress code at Encore is more informal during the day, but come evening, the casino and restaurants ask guests to forgo more casual clothes. Check with each venue about its requirements to avoid being turned away.
  • Make sure to go outside to enjoy the extensive gardens and spaces. The 6.5-acre waterfront Harborwalk is particularly picturesque with its stunning flower gardens and three beautiful 20-foot-high stainless-steel Jaume Plensa sculptures.
  • Don’t leave without trying the hotel’s exclusive beer. A collaboration with Woburn-based Lord Hobo Brewing Company, Project Baccarat is a blonde American IPA with light, citrusy notes.

The Rooms

  • Bathed in soothing beige, the 671 guest rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows and supremely comfortable Wynn Dream Beds.
  • The smallest room at the Boston hotel is a more-than-generous 650 square feet, among the largest in New England. One of the largest options is the 1,350-square-foot Signature Harbor View Suites, which overlook Boston Harbor and the skyline.
  • Tech amenities include Alexa, which lets you control the lights, temperature, drapes and entertainment in the room through voice activation. Portable iPads also allow you to change the room settings, order room service, make reservations and stream your favorite shows.
  • Every room at Encore features a large marble bathroom with dual sinks, a separate shower and soaking tub, a 24-inch HDTV and custom high-end Wynn bath amenities.

The Restaurants

  • Channel your inner Rat Pack vibe and head to Sinatra, one of only two restaurants in the world approved and sanctioned by the Sinatra family to carry the singer’s famous name (the other, of course, is in Wynn Las Vegas). Italian favorites here include osso bucco “My Way,” veal parmigiana and Frank’s spaghetti.
  • Perhaps the most formal dining venue at the luxury hotel, swanky Rare Steakhouse boasts white interiors, views of the Harborwalk and Mystic River, and excellent service. Dine on cuts of certified Japanese wagyu beef, dry-aged filet mignon and other steakhouse staples, while sipping on well-paired sommelier-recommended wines.
  • No casino is complete without an all-you-can-eat buffet. Encore’s is appropriately extravagant with over-the-top whimsical décor and everything from platters of freshly shucked oysters to New York strip steaks and anything else you might want. Save room for the endless decadent desserts.
  • Savor sushi and creative cocktails in the sultry surroundings of Mystique. For more variety (like Peking-style duck or ginger-scallion steamed fish), snag a table at vibrant Cantonese dining room Red 8.
  • Craft beer lovers should make a beeline for Waterfront. The cozy-chic bar carries dozens of New England brews on tap from local hot spots like Harpoon Brewery, Night Shift Brewing, Down the Road and Idle Hands Craft Ales.
