Meadowood Spa

An ultra-luxe wellness retreat in Napa
VERIFIED LUXURY
Editor's note: Meadowood Napa Valley and Meadowood Spa are closed as a result of the wildfires.

Once you arrive at Meadowood Napa Valley, an iconic wine country enclave surrounded by acres of lush greenery, visiting Meadowood Spa to unwind might seem unnecessary — but that would be a mistake.

The spa is a sumptuous hideaway well worth your time. Located on a hill above the tennis courts, the facility looks and feels more like a wellness retreat located at a modern cozy lodge than it does a traditional hotel spa.

The scent of redwood lingers in the air as you walk through the gates and toward the white window-paned doors. Inside, a hand-foraged steel fireplace roars at the center of the welcoming reception room. Natural elements — cedar, oak, stone, ferns — flow throughout the masculine, rustic-chic space.

As you sip a steaming cup of Ikaati's soothing tea and sink into the plush organic linen sofa, you will likely feel yourself sinking into relaxation with ease.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • All of the suites at the Napa spa, which were designed by Backen, Gillam & Kroeger Architects with interiors by Leslie Hemmings, are large with a private bathroom and steam shower.
  • Even the suite’s color palette — warm browns and grays, soft creams, muted greens and faded blacks — is calming and meant to reflect the unique flora and fauna of the surrounding Napa Valley.
  • A pre-treatment, personalized aromatherapy steam shower ensures that you begin your massage, facial or scrub completely relaxed.
  • Unique to the spa is its culinary program. Crafted by Meadowood Grill chef Victoria Acosta, the menu offers you the chance to enjoy a full meal, not just light snacks.
  • Nibble on heirloom tomatoes with dandelion pesto, eggplant and couscous, or indulge in a watercress and kale salad with dungeness crab, Meyer lemon and ginseng while you relax alfresco in the relaxation garden.
Things to Know
  • Post-treatment, you’ll be treated to a house-made elixir — a wildly delicious fresh carrot ginger or lime coriander juice.
  • Meadowood Spa uses a selection of luxury skincare products, including Sorella Apothecary, Aromatherapy Associates, Glycelene, and HydraFacial MD.
  • The entire Meadowood Spa is a series of suites and walkways, creating an indoor/outdoor living space.
The Treatments
  • All treatment times last at least 90 minutes and begin with a conversation with a spa therapist. Your answers will help the therapist customize a treatment specifically to your needs.
  • The Essential Journey, the starting point for treatments, includes either a massage, body treatment or facial with time in your suite to relax.
  • From the Fields focuses on the body with organic botanicals and includes an exfoliation, wrap, massage, relaxation time and a culinary treat.
  • From the Vines homes in on the skin with use of vinotherapy via massage and facial.
The Facilities
  • With high ceilings, a window-side lounge seating area, and treatment bed in the middle of the room, the treatment suites are spacious, yet intimate.
  • There are two relaxation gardens, one for women and another for men, each with a sauna, mineral soaking pool and steam room.
  • There are two 350-square-foot boutiques, one that carries the spa’s luxury skincare products along with local beauty and cosmetic brands, and another that carries high-end items like uncommon fragrances, sophisticated knits, cashmere travel throws and leather journals.
