Fuchun Spa

Traditional Chinese healing with Balinese flair
VERIFIED LUXURY
When you enter Fuchun Resort Hangzhou’s modern Fuchun Spa, the teak, granite and oversized glass lanterns set the tone for the kind of pampering you can expect. All treatments, which are exclusive to this location, blend Balinese technique with traditional Chinese elements.

The contemporary oasis is just one part of the resort’s overall wellness facilities; you will also find a large Balinese-style pool, a yoga lounge, two outdoor tennis courts and a boutique gym.

Our Inspector's Highlights
• There are a variety of massages and body services on offer, but one of the specialties is Chinese reflexology. The spa enlisted a traditional Chinese medicine doctor to design a menu of reflexology treatments, from foot massage to gua sha, an ancient healing practice of scraping lubricated skin that is supposed to help blood flow.

• Rooms have deep black soaking tubs with stainless-steel fixtures and piles of fluffy white towels. All of these accessories, including the bowls of bath salts and trays of towels, are dark wood, impeccably matching the floor and furniture.

• Colorful accents come from the orange towels across the treatment beds, the matching orange couch, red throw pillows and the colorful abstract paintings that hang above the sofas in each suite.

• The luxurious Spa Villa has its own private garden and Jacuzzi, making it an ideal resting place for couples.

• Windows let sunlight stream in to the treatment rooms, but bamboo blinds are there for privacy.
Things to Know
• The best way to get an appointment at Fuchun Spa is to book at least 24 hours in advance, either over the phone or by emailing reservations@fuchunresort.com.

• While the accommodating spa is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., most appointments tend to be available before 8 p.m. If your schedule is flexible, we suggest visiting the spa during the day or evening.

• Although toiletries from London-based Gilchrist & Soames are the featured brand in the hotel’s guest rooms, skincare products from Singapore-based A.W. Lake is the star line at this zen space.
The Treatments
• The popular 60-minute foot massage stimulates the nerve endings to improve circulation.

• Another favorite hour-long treatment is the detox, which aims to release toxins and improve blood flow.

• For alternatives to traditional Chinese massages, the Hangzhou spa provides the Qi Balancing Massage. Eastern and Western techniques, including reiki, shiatsu and Thai yoga, help stretch muscles and encourage the flow of qi.

• The Serenity Massage utilizes warm clay and organic essential oils to soothe tired, aching muscles.
The Rooms
• The serene retreat hosts six spa suites, including four for couples, two rooms exclusively for Chinese massage, and saunas and steam rooms for both men and women.

• One unique space is the foot massage room, the designated spot for the retreat’s signature treatment.

• After your treatment, adjourn to the Aqua Lounge, where tea, fruit and other healthy snacks can be enjoyed while overlooking the pool.
