The Spa at Chatham Bars Inn is the only full-service spa on Cape Cod, offering seasonally themed massage packages and body care treatments in a luxurious setting. Allow yourself to be pampered in the spa’s tranquil Japanese-Zen-meets-Scandinavian-chic vibe or rejuvenate in the privacy of a spa suite, each of which features oversized hydrotherapy tubs, a sauna, steam shower, built-in massage table and fireplace for treatments in the comfort of your own room.

Your visit to the luxury spa starts with a steam bath or a soak in a hydrotherapy tub. Depending on your needs, choose from a range of therapeutic massages on your own or with a partner; add a massage enhancement or body care treatment, and allow an aesthetician to finish up with gentle hair removal, a manicure, pedicure or facial. The cottage spa also offers special packages for expectant mothers, couples and "sea captains" treatments for men.

There’s a quaint New England look and feel but with a modern touches, much like the rest of the cottages at Chatham Bars Inn.
You’ll know you’re in the right place by the smell of spa scents that waft from the white cottage.
The front of the spa opens up to the golf course, which in the summer is a beautiful view from the spa’s outdoor deck.
Although the spa is relatively small, it does include a few spots where you can enjoy some refreshments before and in-between treatments. During the warmer weather months, you can even order snacks on the outdoor terrace of the Cape Cod spa.
Therapists go-to products are from Ocean Rose, a signature line of natural and organic body products created by the Arizona-based company Body Bliss.

Things to Know

Appointments are recommended, especially on weekends and in the summertime, and can be made by calling the spa directly.
The Cape Cod retreat is open to hotel guests and visitors over the age of 16, and its concierge can help you determine the packages and order of treatments that best suits your needs.
You may request a male or female therapist, and should notify the spa concierge of any medical considerations at the time of reservation.
Give at least 24 hours’ notice in the event of a cancellation, or else a fee will be charged to your credit card.
The spa also requests you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time for relaxation in the sauna or steam shower, seasonal outdoor hydrotherapy pool and Jacuzzi, or with tea and sparkling water in the lounge.

The Treatments

As the name suggests, the spa’s signature tides massage mimics the ocean’s waves with long rhythmic strokes. The treatment also utilizes warm stones and seashells to further release muscle pain.
One of the more popular treatments, the arnica massage is performed with mountain arnica oil infused with wild sage and lavender. The massage targets pressure points and uses deep strokes to work out tension.
The spa’s calming facial is the perfect antidote for too much sun. The treatment zeroes in on inflamed, irritated skin.
The summer at the shore body treatment lets you take advantage of the luxury Cape Cod spa’s signature ocean rose scent. The treatment starts with an ocean rose body polish, followed by a rinse and a massage.
For an energizing body treatment, try the citrus sunset. Halves of citrus fruit are used to massage jojoba wax, tangerine and pomegranate oils into the skin and gently slough off dead skin cells.

The Facilities

Plan to spend some extra time before or after your treatment enjoying the wet areas.
In the steam shower, you’ll find towel racks, soaps, shampoo and hair conditioner, razors and washcloths. There will also be a spray bottle with the spa’s signature ocean rose scent on the table, which you can use as part of the steam shower.
A dry sauna is available in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms, and each locker room has private bath stalls and changing areas.
