One Restaurant, the flagship restaurant at The Hazelton Hotel, is a glamourous addition to Toronto-based chef Mark McEwan’s acclaimed restaurant group. You may recognize Chef McEwan as the head judge on Top Chef Canada.

The Recommended restaurant is unabashedly sultry with chocolate-brown leather booths, dim lights, textured walls and pops of glam gold and red among a sea of neutrals. The 16-seat Neil Young Room is reserved for those in town to discuss business or just have an intimate evening with a small group.

With elevated French/Italian-inspired cuisine served amongst sharp décor, diners are treated to a thrilling experience when visiting the buzzy eatery.

Inspired by local ingredients (menus change seasonally) with global flavors, the menu offers appetizers like foie gras mousse on crostini, crispy Korean chicken tacos or truffled pierogies.
Few restaurants in the city boast a wine and spirits list as extensive as One’s. Vintage champagnes from Louis Roederer, Perrier-Jouët and Dom Pérignon are there to impress for special occasions.
The charming patio is tree-lined and candle-lit (with heaters for those cooler fall evenings) and is regarded as one of the town’s best patios.
If you’re able to snag a coveted alfresco table, order a seasonal cocktail such as the boozy strawberry-mint lemonade served by the pitcher during summer.

During the summer, the Toronto restaurant’s patio is the ultimate spot to see and be seen.
The dress code at The Hazelton Hotel’s One Restaurant is smart casual. For dinner, women will fit in wearing dresses, skirts or “dressed up” jeans, while men will feel comfortable here in business attire or a “dressed down” suit.
There is valet parking at One Restaurant in Toronto through The Hazelton Hotel, however your best bet is to take a taxi or public transportation.
If you’re taking a cab to the luxury Toronto restaurant, your driver may need to take a roundabout route, as Yorkville Avenue is a one-way street. If there’s a lot of traffic through Yorkville or you’re in a hurry, ask to be dropped off at the corner of Avenue Road and Yorkville Avenue, then just walk one block east to the restaurant.

The Food

One Restaurant serves breakfast, as well as lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
For breakfast, choose from egg white omelets, Greek yogurt parfaits, homemade granola, or fresh-fruit smoothies, protein shakes and freshly squeezed juices.
Later in the day, those who want to watch their waistline can opt for lighter, healthier, Mediterranean-style dishes like yellowfin tuna sashimi, Cobb salad or the branzino.

The Chef

Andrew Ellerby is One Restaurant’s executive chef.
After studying at Culinary Arts at George Brown College, Chef Ellerby mastered his craft by working in fine-dining restaurants like Hamilton and The Open Deck.
Ellerby first began working under Mark McEwan as the Executive Chef at ByMark restaurant and later at One Restaurant.
McEwan has utilized Ellerby’s expertise on multiple occasions to jumpstart new business endeavors, curate the recipes featured in his best-selling cookbooks and travel the world to do cooking demonstrations for audiences.
