Mott 32 at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas

Chic Chinese cuisine with an electric scene
VERIFIED LUXURY

Hong Kong-based restaurant group Maximal Concepts’ Mott 32 — located just off The Palazzo at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas’ casino floor — is everything a culinary treasure hunter dreams of when dining out: the ultimate mix of sophisticated cocktails, gourmet preparations and photogenic design elements.

No matter what kind of dining experience you crave, you’ll find it here. Under the watchful eyes of executive chef Man-Sing Lee and head chef Alan Ji, the kitchen churns out an impressive selection of authentic Chinese cuisine, balancing Cantonese, Szechuan and Beijing influences. Mott 32 is famous for its made-to-order Peking ducks.

But it’s the interiors that really catch the eye. Three distinct spaces offer three unique vibes, with the highlight found in the main dining room. This stylish venue oozes opulence with its 25-foot ceilings and circular format that allows for great people watching.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Las Vegas restaurant is the first Mott 32 outpost in the United States — others reside in Hong Kong and Vancouver. Opened in December 2018, the chic eatery brings Hong Kong style and authentic Chinese cuisine to Sin City.
  • Imagined by renowned designer Joyce Wang, Mott 32’s interiors are a stylish blend of Chinese culture and Las Vegas flash. The result is undeniably Instagram-worthy.
  • Some of the details to watch for include the grand chandelier at the entrance to the dining area made of hundreds of metal chains and rippled glass shades. All locations of the Chinese eatery share a variation on this fixture.
  • There are multiple experiences to be had at Mott 32, including the unexpected enclave known as the Boom Boom Room. Playful touches here include a billowing chandelier adorned with feathers, copper tiles that give off a golden hue and onyx panels through which guests can play hide-and-seek.
  • No trip to Mott 32 is complete until you try the duck. The apple-roasted meat takes 48 hours to prepare, so it must be pre-ordered.

Things to Know

  • If you’re looking for something more intimate, the chic restaurant offers five private dining rooms, each with a different theme. One has a dining table made of a vintage roulette wheel.
  • While Mott 32 is fine Chinese dining through and through, its name pays homage to New York City’s first Chinese convenience store. Opened in 1851 at 32 Mott Street, the shop became the center of NYC’s sprawling Chinatown.
  • For a more casual experience, opt for the bar’s Dim Sum & Drink Sum happy hour menu. This curated selection of dishes, cocktails and wine under $10 includes staples like Iberico pork Shanghainese soup dumplings (each delicately placed in its own carrier to protect the easily broken wrapping) and the meaty sesame prawn toast.

The Food

  • While seafood features heavily on the menu, carnivorous plates are equally appealing. Japanese Kobe beef gets a flavorful twist with housemade black bean paste and garlic chips, while Australian wagyu is given an Asian flair, stir-fried with shiitake mushrooms and baby leeks.
  • You will want to savor every morsel of signature dishes such as the Alaskan crab meat fried rice, barbecue Pluma Iberico pork with yellow mountain honey, and black pepper king prawn and garlic clay pot.
  • For those who want to go the traditional Cantonese route, there’s a section of the menu dedicated to bird’s nest soups, abalone and dried seafood dishes, and whole fish preparations.
  • Don’t forget the desserts. Classic options include sweetened beancurd cream with mango soup, while Western treats like matcha cheesecake are sure to please.

The Drinks

  • Wine is a focal point of the Mott 32 experience and the restaurant provides storage for 6,000 bottles. The collection plays no favorites, embracing red, white and sparkling variations with equal care.
  • There is both a wine mezzanine — its ceilings reach 25 feet — above the bar accessible by catwalk and a wine room between the bar/lounge and the main dining room.
  • The cocktail menu mimics the kitchen creations, incorporating Asian ingredients like yuzu, shiso, lychee and passion fruit. Two must-tries are the Hanami, a mix of bourbon and gin with umeshu fruit liqueur, yuzu, shiso, ginger beer and chrysanthemum; and the Forbidden Rose made of vanilla-infused pisco, passion fruit, lychee, chili and lemon.
  • Non-drinkers won’t be left out here. The Chinese restaurant carries a small tea menu alongside a collection of non-alcoholic Mottails, like the refreshing Jasmine Cooler (lychee juice, jasmine tea and orange blossom water).
