Our Inspector's Highlights
• Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront has a great central spot along the Savannah River, located on the west end of Historic Downtown Savannah.
• This address keeps visitors away from the busy tourist-flooded middle section of River Street and it also puts you only two blocks from City Market, a popular shopping and dining area in Savannah.
• Guests are still only steps from the popular river boat launch and within walking distance of the charming old-school Savannah park squares.
• Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Rocks on the River, offers plays on Southern favorites such as chicken and waffles—kicked up a notch with Boursin cheese and pink peppercorn jam.
Things to Know
• Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront has a vintage aesthetic made to look like the interior of a (very well-kept) wooden ship, yet its upscale accents keep it from going overboard on the nautical theme.
• Rich leather lobby chairs and jeweled lamps greet you upon arrival, while dark, aged wood floors complement the exposed brick along the walls. Much of the lighting provides only a lantern-like glow, adding to the mysterious, sensual vibe.
• It’s a romantic spot, so couples who choose to stay at the Savannah hotel will likely want to avoid crowds during the summer months and opt instead to linger on the top-floor lounge, with cocktails near the blue-flame fire pit.
The Rooms
• There are four room types at the Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront: Standard Historic View, River View, Corner Historic View or Corner River View, based on guests preference for seeing the sights of the historic city.
• The leathery trunk-like dressers beg to be touched, as do the ultra-soft throw blankets strewn across the bed and the dark-red velvety headboard set in a distressed wood frame.
• Featured artist Alexander Gore’s large abstract paintings can be seen in the hallway but you will find one of his surreal, fluid works in your room, too, which adds a contemporary, colorful touch.
• Additional ocean influences make their way into the hotel's rooms with intricate oyster chandeliers and bathroom fixtures. Some rooms even feature a soaking tub that opens into the room.
The Restaurants
• Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront features a full restaurant on its basement level called Rocks on the River, and the rooftop bar, Rocks on the Roof. Both embody the Bohemian vintage yet contemporary design.
• Rocks on the River provides a tapas menu and cocktails but Rocks on the Roof is a livelier evening hot spot that’s great for happy hour and splitting a charcuterie plate or truffle fries.
• Its River Street companion deserves a longer, more leisurely dinner or breakfast to dig into hand-selected, Black Angus steaks, prime chophouse burgers or plenty of seafood choices.
• The hotel's restaurant is also known for its Sunday brunch; it serves 13 different types of eggs Benedict, including a shrimp and grits version and one made with French toast.
