Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort

A chic, family-friendly resort near Disney
VERIFIED LUXURY
A new era of luxury travel ushered into the Orlando area when Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort opened its doors late summer 2014. Perched on 26.5 lakeside acres within the magnificent residential community of Golden Oak, the sprawling family friendly resort sits just minutes from Disney’s theme parks and entertainment districts, all easily accessed via complimentary Four Seasons motor coaches or private luxury sedans.

With one of the world’s most sought-after theme parks in its backyard, Four Seasons Orlando must compete with a bevy of daytime diversions offsite, which is surely the thinking behind Explorer Island, a five-acre, family-focused recreation space that will keep kids happy for days. Anchored by an immense pool, complete with a lazy river that meanders along rapids and under waterfalls in a spectacular tropical setting, this Orlando resort offers a family-friendly paradise.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • A massive 7,590-square-foot family pool is the focal point but just the beginning of scores of watery amenities, including an expansive Splash Zone with dozens of choreographed water jets, two waterslides and a lazy river.
  • Explorer Island also provides a slew of outdoor activities like beach volleyball, outdoor movie nights, a video gaming center, outdoor games and a climbing wall.
  • For grown-ups, recreational perks include a lavish spa with 18 treatment rooms (including four couples suites), three Har-Tru tennis courts, a 24-hour fitness center and an adults-only pool flanked by private cabanas.
  • The lobby-level Disney Planning Center will nab you theme park tickets and Disney dining reservations. Plus, the desk staffers will send you to nearby Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in luxury buses for free.
  • Kids won’t want to miss the twice-weekly Good Morning Breakfast with Goofy and his Pals at Four Seasons’ Ravello restaurant. Children can share omelets (or other buffet dishes) with Goofy and more costumed characters.
Things to Know
  • While “Disney” may be in its name, Four Seasons eschews Mickey décor for a fresh, contemporary aesthetic.
  • For some alone time, leave the little ones at the fully supervised Kids for All Seasons program, which occupies guests ages 4 to 12 daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • While at the theme parks, enjoy fuss-free shopping. Instead of lugging your souvenirs to all of the rides and attractions, you can arrange to have them sent to the hotel.
The Rooms
  • The resort’s 443 modern rooms, including 68 suites, climb 16 towering stories.
  • Many rooms offer unobstructed views of the nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park and each has a furnished terrace.
  • The chic rooms contain white furnishings with muted orange or teal accents. They also have flat-screen TVs, DVD players upon request and iPod docking stations.
  • In the cream marble mosaic bathrooms, you’ll find in-mirror televisions, a separate glass-walled shower and a deep-soaking tub.
The Restaurants
  • The resort’s culinary offerings unfold in typical Four Seasons fashion but don’t ignore the presence of its kiddie clientele, who gleefully delight in two onsite ice cream and gelato shops and lots of poolside, family-friendly fare at PB+G, located on Explorer Island.
  • Inside the resort, Ravello serves up breakfast and dinner with modern Italian flair. From morning omelets to suppertime wood-fired pizzas, the menu unfurls inside an expansive show kitchen, which gives you a wonderful bird’s-eye view of the culinary process.
  • The dining centerpiece is Capa, the resort’s signature 17th-floor restaurant. Capa is evidence that Basque and steakhouse cuisine can be married with magnificent results.
  • Inside the dramatic black-and-red-hued dining room and lounge, dabble in the tapas-style menu of shareable small bites and a selection of masterfully aged steaks, seafood and paella entrées.
  • The fine-dining restaurant’s housemade pitchers of sangria, 220 wines and 12 signature cocktails make for the perfect way to toast the fireworks blasting in full view of Capa’s terrace each night.
