Andaz Wall Street

A swanky break from Midtown's bustle
VERIFIED LUXURY
Andaz Wall Street is perfect for the traveler who prefers luxury off the beaten path. Don't get us wrong — this New York hotel is still in the center of it all, located at Wall and Water streets in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan.

But a stay here affords privacy, and a break from the hustle and bustle that's typical of Midtown.

Another plus about the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel: You'll feel like a New Yorker during your stay. The loft-style accommodations make it seem like you have your own apartment in the city, and one that's outfitted with swanky décor, mood lighting and more.

Other perks: Andaz Kitchen & Bar, the onsite restaurant, serves delicious globally inspired fare. Or if you prefer a lighter bite, the Beer Garden is a busy happy-hour spot during the warmer months where small plates are served alongside local and international brews.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Serving up three flavorful meals a day, Andaz Kitchen & Bar takes inspiration from New York's diverse culinary scene with Italian, Caribbean, Asian and American-influenced dishes gracing the menu. Start your day with lamb merguez shakshouka and come dinnertime, dig into plates like jerk pork shoulder, pollo a la brasa or a classic bacon burger.
  • Traveling with tots? The hotel’s baby program offers a crib, play pen, rubber ducky and an organic amenity package, including diaper cream, shampoo and conditioner, so you don't have to worry about forgetting diaper bag essentials.
  • One of our favorite in-room perks is the complimentary mini-bar stocked with snacks, soft drinks and water.
  • Come in the spring or summer to try the onsite Beer Garden on the terrace and stroll through the hotel's own farmer’s market.
Things to Know
  • There is a wine hour hosted nightly, and you can expect lobby treats like warm cookies and fresh coffee from the city's historic Gillies Coffee.
  • Public transit stations, the subway and ferries are within a moment’s walk from the hotel
  • A Tesla Model S Destination Charging Center can be found adjacent to the hotel.
The Rooms
  • The rooms are best defined with one word: Cool. The loft-style setup makes you feel like a New Yorker with your own apartment in Manhattan.
  • Basic Andaz King rooms come with a Geneva Sound System dock to play your iPod, and bath and shower products from local brand C.O. Bigelow.
  • The high ceilings, window seat and full-length mirrors make the accommodations seem huge.
  • We love the details, from indented trays on the night tables to hold your jewelry to blackout window shades that can be controlled via a bedside button.
The Look
  • The design of Andaz Wall Street is urban and stylish . The space feels more like an under-the-radar club than a hotel.
  • Designed by Rockwell Group — famous for its work on sets for the Oscars — Andaz is set up as an "open concept" loft-like space.
  • Think high ceilings and multi-functional furniture (including a media center turned vanity). The lobby is sophisticated and sexy.
  • Check out the art. During our visit, a light installation by Simon Chaput was displayed on the lobby walls.
  • One standout design detail is the glamorous stairs to the lobby bar. They are made of sculptural pearlescent steel and stone.
