The St. Regis Mumbai

A palatial nightlife paradise in Mumbai
VERIFIED LUXURY

Tucked between the trendy coastal Bandra neighborhood and historic Fort district, The St. Regis Mumbai is a towering luxury hotel perfectly situated to explore all that this busting Indian metropolis has to offer. Conveniently located in the city’s tallest building, the hotel shares boundaries with the upscale Palladium mall and is close to the picturesque Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge.

In addition to notable nearby attractions such as Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum (Mumbai's oldest museum) and Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the posh property is in close proximity to some the city’s favorite art galleries, bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques.

Keeping with the theme of the vibrant area, the statuesque hotel hosts art in the form of installations and paintings at every level. While incredibly opulent in its choice of wide, sweeping staircases and elegant furnishings, The St. Regis Mumbai is brightly lit, easy on the eyes and spacious, making you feel right at home.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The St. Regis Mumbai's rooftop pool is not to be missed. Lined with palm trees and shaded loungers, the mosaic-tiled swimming hole boasts sweeping views over the city's skyscraper dotted skyline.
  • You’ll find everything you need to squeeze in a workout at the 24-hour gym, including plenty of cardio machines and weight-training equipment. Next door, an independent beauty and skincare salon,Jean-Claude Biguine, provides the opportunity to primp after your sweat session.
  • The softly lit, palatial Iridium Spa is an ideal setting for some pampering. Opt for a massage using a fragrant oil blend of immortelle (curry plant) and roses to rejuvenate after a busy day exploring Mumbai.
  • Luna Nudo and XXO are Mumbai’s most-frequented nighttime destinations for those who enjoy dancing and lively crowds paired with delectable drinks and soul-stirring sounds. Bollywood fans will surely spot a recognizable face on most nights.
  • The St. Regis Mumbai has a charming little library that’s home to a small selection of books, complete with tall, regal armchairs to curl up in.

Things to Know

  • Palladium is a premier shopping destination with an entrance that’s partially connected to The St. Regis Mumbai. The mall plays host to Indian and international luxury brands, such as New Delhi-based cosmetics company Forest Essentials, Jo Malone London, Gucci, L’Occitane, Michael Kors, Japanese housewares store Muji and Indian jewelry brand Tribe Amrapali.
  • The luxury hotel hosts Lakmé Fashion Week, Mumbai's biannual fashion event. Securing rooms around that time (April and August) might be tricky, so we recommend booking far in advance for spring and summer stays.
  • In addition to horse races, the nearby Mahalaxmi Racecourse is a popular outdoor venue for art and music festivals. Be sure to check the calendar to see what's on tap during your visit.

The Rooms

  • The 395 rooms are sumptuously carpeted, complemented by marble bathrooms with separate soaking tubs. Floor-to-ceiling bay windows afford views of the bustling city and expansive racecourse.
  • With its palatial living room, ornate master bathroom fitted with an oversized tub and sea views, The Metropolitan suite makes a grand impression.
  • Handy for those who stay at The St. Regis Mumbai during fashion week and other important events, the rooms have a lighted mirror in the dressing room area — it’s helpful for you and your makeup artists.

The Restaurants

  • The Sahib Room & Kipling brings colonial era-inspired North Indian fare and aristocratic interiors — the cameo-portrait-laden wall is particularly Instagram-worthy. Order the slow-roasted kali mirch (black-pepper-infused curry) chicken and gosht ki gilawattender lamb cooked with 25 Lucknowi spices.
  • Yuuka is as much a treat for the eyes — with its high ceilings, golden origami swans and wide windows — as it is for the palate. Sample the okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) among other opulent Japanese offerings.
  • The Barista and The Drawing Room are splendid spots to immerse yourself in coffee and conversation. The signature St. Regis afternoon tea is a must, but if you’re just looking for light nibbles, request a plate of The Drawing Room’s double chocolate-chip cookies.
