Our Inspector's Highlights
• Located in Greenville, Maine, which is set in the North Woods region, this historic luxury inn is an escape from reality into the pristine wilderness.

• The inn itself is a lovingly restored mansion built in the 1800s. Today, it’s home to eight gorgeous guest rooms with lake views, soaking bathtubs, and wood-burning fireplaces.

• Look for lodge-like touches such as the antler chandelier hanging overhead and a country theme on the outdoor veranda, with milk bottle furniture and floral fabrics. The combined result is elegant and luxurious without feeling fussy.

• Husband and wife owners Ruth and Dan McLaughlin will be there to assist with every need from building a fire in your fireplace to organizing guided moose safaris to setting out cold lemonade on hot Maine afternoons.
Things to Know
• Blair Hill Inn is only open from mid-June through mid-October each year, allowing you to take advantage of the spectacular Maine summers and fall foliage.

• In the summer, the inn’s flower, herb and vegetable gardens are in full bloom and diners at the restaurant are treated to fresh produce grown onsite.

• During the fall, the mountains surrounding the lake come alive in shades of yellow, red and orange, creating a colorful backdrop for your North Woods adventures.

• The convenient location also offers easy access to the activities and recreation options of the area, from lake cruises aboard the historic steamship Katahdin to hikes ending with a swim in the lake.

• Venture out on a water-based “moose safari”, where you can catch a glimpse of the lake’s animal namesake. You’ll find yourself in a canoe with binoculars on a secluded lake, watching these oversized creatures in their natural habitat.
The Rooms
• Though your room at the Blair Hill Inn is elegantly decorated to replicate a luxurious guest room from the 1800s, you’ll still find special amenities from the modern day to keep you comfortable.

• Each of the inn’s eight guest rooms have a different décor and color scheme with a focus on views of nearby Moosehead Lake. Freshly picked pitchers of flowers add a pop of color, as do coverlets on the bed and framed artwork.

• There are five rooms with king-sized beds and three rooms with queen-sized beds. Most rooms at the Blair Hill Inn have wood-burning fireplaces and oversized soaking tubs that offer further views of the lake.

• The bathrooms are equipped with marble tiles, elegant fixtures, and pretty overhead chandeliers. There’s also an oversized bathtub with sweeping views of Moosehead Lake that you can ogle through French-style windows, and you’ll also find a separate glass-enclosed shower with a slate sitting bench.
The Restaurants
• Blair Hill Inn operates just one restaurant, which is also called Blair Hill. The Blair Hill Restaurant serves five-course, prix fixe meals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from mid-June through mid-October.

• The menu pairs locally grown produce—ranging from delicate fiddlehead ferns in the spring to squash and apples in the fall—with fresh Maine seafood and farm-raised meats. Nearly all the meat, poultry and seafood is cooked in rustic-style, over a traditional wood-fired Aztec grill.

• The dining room overlooks Moosehead Lake, offering you the chance to enjoy a romantic meal while watching the sun set over the pine-covered islands dotting the lake and the grand mountains in the distance.

• Complimentary refreshments (think hot teas, cold lemonade and iced tea) are served at the Blair Hill Inn in the afternoons depending on the weather. If the weather turns chilly, you can expect to receive a cup of hot tea.
