The Inn at Dos Brisas

A luxe Texas ranch retreat
VERIFIED LUXURY
With only nine rooms, The Inn at Dos Brisas is intimate in scale, leaving the big impressions to come from polished service and masterful cuisine served in the Five-Star restaurant. Each room in the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel is loaded with luxury amenities, including 1,200-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and working fireplaces.

Tucked onto 300 acres of breathtaking pastures, The Inn at Dos Brisas makes its home in what can only be described as a rural landscape in Washington, Texas. Luxurious and rural may sound like opposites, but this hotel proves otherwise. Spanish-style casitas, trimmed with rich leather furniture and plush touches, give the resort’s tree-lined pathways and 10-acre organic farm a luxe touch.

You may not want to leave the casitas, but if you do, an infinity pool and whirlpool await, as do the opportunity to try horseback riding, fly fishing and mountain biking on the ranch grounds.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Located about an hour outside of Houston, The Inn at Dos Brisas is a peaceful place to relax and get away from it all. Surrounded by acres of horse pastures and gardens, each casita and hacienda offers plenty of privacy.
  • Much of what you’ll do at the ranch is centered on eating: From the welcome cheese and charcuterie plate to the delightful breakfast delivered to your door to the homemade cookies at turndown, it all comes from the excellent restaurant.
  • You might expect the only Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurant in Texas to be in a big city skyscraper or fancy locale, but it calls The Inn at Dos Brisas home.
  • Ride the resort’s mountain bikes through paths lining the sprawling resort, or make use of their fishing equipment and try your hand at fly fishing in the creek.
  • The rural night sky is devoid of any big city lights; check out the stars with the Dos Brisas telescope.
Things to Know
  • The staff here will valet your car and trade it for a cream-colored golf cart embellished with the Dos Brisas horse logo. Visitors can use the cart to explore every inch of the 300-acre resort.
  • Nothing says hello better than a glass of bubbly — in your room you’ll find a complimentary bottle of champagne, and a cheese and charcuterie tray upon arrival.
  • Your casita or hacienda is armed with a wet bar, which comes with a mini fridge filled with creamer and simple syrup for your coffee, sodas and water.
  • The inn’s restaurant has an incredible wine cellar, but you’ll also find a variety of super-tasty seasonal cocktails.
  • Drinks in the bar are presented with tasty snacks such as homemade fingerling potato chips or fresh kale chips from the garden.
The Rooms
  • Situated on 300 acres, the resort only offers nine guest rooms — this includes four casitas, which are the original, smaller accommodations.
  • These rooms have king beds, kitchenettes, private patios, gas fireplaces and flat-screen TVs inside elegant armoires. The kitchenette, bathroom and spacious living room are finished with pillows, bed linens and artwork in a western style motif.
  • The four-foot high beds offer the upmost in comfort, complete with 1,200-count Egyptian cotton linens and Decker pillows; distressed leather couches sit at the end of the bed, facing the fireplace.
  • The hotel's haciendas are its newer, larger accommodations, with huge living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • The haciendas also include two large fireplaces, a wet bar, large secretary desk and dining table. French doors lead out to a private deck with plunge pool and screened-in porch.
The Restaurants
  • The ranch's acclaimed chefs create an inventive seasonal menu using the freshest produce possible, items grown right on the hotel’s 10-acre USDA-certified organic farm.
  • Dining at the restaurant, you’ll find standout favorites such as chilled Maine lobster “Breneboise” with Texas Rio Star grapefruit, poached breast of pheasant wrapped in garden mustard greens with black-eyed pea cassoulet or Texas peach panna cotta.
  • Using a sort of farm-to-table approach, The Inn at Dos Brisas’ bartenders mix up a combination of fresh juices and herbs from the Inn’s 10-acre organic farm into a variety of signature garden cocktails.
  • Try the La Brise, a combination of vodka, orange and cranberry juices, or choose from one of the 7,000-plus wines listed in the award-winning collection.
  • Sip the signature Bloody Mary, created with juice from more than 60 different varieties of home-grown tomatoes.
