The Joule

Downtown Dallas' modern marvel
VERIFIED LUXURY
The Joule sits in the heart of downtown Dallas’ business district, and with its two-year renovation and expansion completed, it is even more of a zephyr of vibrancy for the area. The main building of the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star hotel occupies a historic structure and distinguishes itself from other façades by its striking swimming pool cantilevered eight feet to overlook Main Street.

Original marble flooring, elevators and historic staircases were combined with famed designer Adam Tihany’s contemporary aesthetic, casting a sophisticated and luxurious light through the property.

No two rooms are the same at this Dallas hotel, creating a unique experience for each guest. The rooftop space is the perfect reception area, complete with street access via a private glass elevator.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Staying at The Joule feels a bit like staying in an art gallery. Works from nationally and internationally recognized artists are displayed about the property, perfectly placed to add a bit of modern ambience to the spaces.
  • One of the best design elements at The Joule is Tihany’s daring glass-fronted pool. The 10th-floor pool cantilevers eight feet beyond the Dallas hotel structure, and a Plexiglas window sits at the end.
  • Another noteworthy addition to the property is the two-floor spa. The oasis is an earthy retreat with crystals, metals, stones, atmospheric lighting and the latest in spa technology.
  • Chief concierge and Les Clefs d’Or member Andrew and his team can arrange house cars to escort you anywhere you need to go, offer the best restaurant recommendations, or get your iguana the right afternoon snack.
  • The downtown Dallas hotel’s 3,600-square foot subterranean gym is the ideal place to grab a workout away from the Texas heat, complete with a group fitness studio, personal training, full-service men’s and women’s locker rooms with rainfall showers and products from The Spa at The Joule.
Things to Know
  • Further additions to The Joule experience include the Traffic LA boutique segmented into men’s, women’s and kids’ apparel.
  • During the warmer months, live music events are routinely scheduled at Stone Street Gardens right across the street, while Klyde Warren Park, the Arts District’s newest urban oasis, is always buzzing with a diverse event schedule.
  • While exploring the area, be sure to also visit Pioneer Plaza on Young Street. This must-stop attraction is a 73-piece, larger-than-life sculpture of a cattle drive by Texas artist Robert Summers.
The Rooms
  • The Joule’s rooms in the original structure flaunt an aesthetic that’s decidedly interior decorator Adam Tihany’s — dark woods, steel, glass accents and deep, jewel-tone color palettes.
  • The rooms in the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star hotel's new tower are designed to excite and are considerably brighter in terms of natural light and color palette.
  • Two other elements that stand out are the 42- and 47-inch smart TVs and luxurious washrooms with expansive showers.
  • The penthouses are disarmingly fabulous and fit for Hollywood A-listers. It’s a complete living experience with entertaining and cooking space, two bedrooms split on separate levels and a wraparound balcony.
The Restaurants
  • CBD Provisions, a unique farm-to-table concept restaurant, is the primary dining option at The Joule.
  • Executive chef Michael Sindoni oversees a menu that combines Texas culinary traditions with his contemporary flair and locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily.
  • CBD’s bar presents you with a perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with a selection of local craft beers.
  • And for the early risers at the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star hotel, the Weekend Coffee opens at 6:30 a.m. daily, and offers a variety of made-to-order java selections and tempting gourmet pastries by executive pastry chef Ruben Torano.
