W Bangkok

Bangkok’s hip hangout
VERIFIED LUXURY
In a city sparkling with gold, flashing with neon and tangled with greenery, it’s challenging to capture the attention of travelers and locals, but W Bangkok has been doing so since it opened in 2012.

When the sun goes down on Thailand’s capital, a massive fuchsia “W” glows on the hotel facade, catching eyes and pulling in visitors. Inside the hotel, the energy continues to burn bright with its vibrant décor both in the guest rooms and in the buzzing bars and restaurants.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The hotel’s food and beverage scene has always been a strong suit, but W Bangkok upped its game recently with the debut of The House on Sathorn, a 126-year-old residence now housing a collection of dining and nightlife concepts.
  • For those who imbibe, order something stiff at The House’s bar or at Woobar on the hotel’s ground floor where a popular Ladies Night draws a crowd every Friday.
  • Divided into four distinct zones, Away Spa was designed to relax you in a futuristic yet calming environment. The oasis offers six treatment rooms, saunas, steam rooms, and Jacuzzis, as well as a coed hammam.
  • Wet Pool brings both sunbathers and night owls to its sleek deck 24 hours a day. The 2,200-square-foot pool is as entertaining as the bars in the hip hotel thanks to an underwater sound system and LED lighting.
  • Many of Bangkok’s culinary, shopping, cultural and other delights are easily accessible from the Chong Nonsi BTS Station just next door to the trendy hotel.
Things to Know
  • The Courtyard at the heart of The House is where to book a table when the weather warms.
  • The shimmering nearby MahaNakhon Tower is Bangkok’s tallest building houses elite dining destinations like L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Vogue Lounge.
  • Take to the sixth floor for all things health and wellness. From the red-lit elevator, follow stone-lined paths to the hotel’s spa, pool or gym — all of which are just as aesthetically captivating as the rest of W Bangkok.
The Rooms
  • W Bangkok houses 403 rooms varying between eight different types ranging from the Wonderful Room to the Extreme Wow Suite.
  • As you’d expect, the rooms at the Bangkok hotel are far from bland. Bedspreads feature traditional naga (mythical Thai serpents) donning muay Thai gloves.
  • Bold pops of color against a black-and-white theme, shimmering sequins, and exotic textures give the spaces a fun, modern edge.
  • Every room is stocked with W signature bathrobes and a pillow menu upon request.
The Restaurants
  • Stepping through The House doors, you are transported to a bygone era of jazz piano, ornate crown molding, and plush leather lounge chairs.
  • Chef Fatih Tutak helms the open kitchen of The House’s star restaurant, The Dining Room.
  • Inspired by his travels through Asia and his Turkish heritage, Tutak created a menu that takes you abroad with dishes like Once Upon a Time in Istanbul, a story told with lamb belly, eggplant and hummus.
  • A modern, dramatic bistro with a warm vibe, The Kitchen Table is located within the main hotel building and serves a mix of Eastern and Western foods.
  • The Kitchen Pantry is as it sounds — grab a range of goods to go, including pastries and olive oils.
