Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali

Bali's beachfront family getaway
VERIFIED LUXURY
Nestled in Sanur, the quiet part of Bali, Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali offers tranquility for those who long to escape the crowds.

You can’t help but find serenity among the hotel’s 10 acres of exotic gardens, 650 feet of inviting beach and the sparkling pool that gazes out on palm trees and the ocean.

Warm, earthy color palettes and Indonesian design, like kawung motifs from batik, adorn the hotel, while coconut shells are used for its lobby roof and elevator walls. A pond inspired by Borobudur Temple at Yogyakarta in Java stands at the center of the resort’s manicured garden.

The alfresco Lobby Lounge serves heavy snacks, cocktails and pool vistas. Layang Layang restaurant highlights Indonesian dishes and presents a special Balinese dinner buffet on Fridays, while Nyala, which sits by the infinity pool, specializes in international cuisine and Tuesday’s special barbecue dinner. The beachfront Cabana Lounge provides light bites and drinks with a view of the calm ocean.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • For an indulgent meal, book the Sunday lobster brunch at Layang Layang. Fresh lobster appears in dishes like laksa (a spicy noodle soup) alongside oysters and other seafood.
  • You’ll want to linger in the infinity swimming pool overlooking the ocean. But the Sanur family-friendly resort has two kids pools and floats for lounging.
  • Children will have fun at the Kid’s Club, where they can join various activities, including watching movies in the mini cinema and creating arts and crafts.
  • The Spa’s Sanur Signature massage pampers with a technique involving a long stroke from the foot to the neck.
  • The Sanur hotel offers a cooking class that starts with a trip to a local market to learn about local ingredients then back to the Fairmont to cook some Balinese or other Indonesian dishes.
Things to Know
  • Stay on level four for the view of the ocean. Rooms on the first through third levels look out on the hotel’s Borobudur-inspired pond.
  • The Fairmont Garden View Suite and Deluxe Garden View Suite have a similar setting, only the latter is more spacious, which makes it the better choice.
  • The luxury hotel faces east, a great vantage point to watch the sunrise and moonrise. Cabana Lounge serves Sunrise Breakfast by the beach at 6.30 a.m. and Purnama by the Beach dinner during a full moon.
  • Stay between July to December and you just may be lucky enough to join a sea turtle release, as females often lay eggs at the hotel’s beach during this period. Fairmont Sanur keeps the eggs safe from humans and other predators, and when they hatch, the Bali hotel invites you to release the baby sea turtles back to the ocean.
  • Riding a bike along the paved path by Sanur Beach is mandatory, and the family friendly hotel provides complimentary bicycles for guests.
The Rooms
  • All suites have balconies with a long sofa, a TV and a mini bar, making them more like outdoor living rooms. A kawung-patterned trellis hangs over each balcony, which is also equipped with blinds that can be operated with a switch by the king-size bed in the room.
  • Accommodations are spacious, ranging from around 970 to 1,950 square feet. The sprawling villas come with configurations of one, two and three bedrooms, each consisting of two stories and a private swimming pool.
  • For relaxation in utter privacy, reserve a Spa Suite decked out with a living room and its own spa treatment room. Then order some in-room services.
  • The bathrooms look luxurious with a decorative mother-of-pearl panel. Seek out the rose-scented New York-based Le Labo bath amenities.
  • The rooms have lavish design with homey Indonesian accents, such as individual stone and wood pieces created by local craftsmen.
Nearby Attractions
  • Water sports enthusiasts can contact Fairmont Sanur’s concierge team to arrange canoeing, wind-surfing, sailing, parasailing and scuba diving with the hotel’s trusted water sports operator. Eco tour and boat trips can also be booked.
